Just 1 year ago, Mrs Lenore Wille ACCF’s Deputy Chairman and Mr Michael Wille OAM, ACCF’s Executive Chairman, were personally invited to Bhutan by Her Majesty, The Royal Grandmother to discuss what might be possible for the women of Bhutan, knowing that Cervical Cancer was the biggest cancer killer of women in Bhutan.

The desire of Her Majesty, The Royal Grandmother to save Bhutanese women from the suffering caused by cervical cancer inspired ACCF to pursue this unique partnership with the Royal Government of Bhutan’s Ministry of Health and Merck Sharpe & Dohme Corp to achieve an extraordinary common goal and create an example for every nation of the powerful results possible for communities when organizations with different strengths work together in the right partnership. dsc00423.jpg

“World Health Organisation (WHO) data shows that cervical cancer kills more than 270,000 women throughout the world each year and 80 percent of these women are from developing countries,” Mr Tooma said.  “Every two minutes a woman will die from cervical cancer, most of these deaths should be preventable.”  The WHO forecasts that deaths from cervical cancer could almost double in Bhutan by 2025 without a program like this.

You can help ACCF's screening and vaccination programs change these tragic statistics by clicking on the "Donations" link on this page.
